Yuko Ishihara (Planning Group A02) has written an essay titled "In Search of a Place for the 'Self'" for the May 2026 issue of Tosho, a literary journal published by Iwanami Shoten. Drawing on the Kyoto School philosopher Ueda Shizuteru's reflections on the "self"—including the distinction between self-consciousness and self-awareness—the essay weaves these philosophical insights together with Ishihara's own experience of questions of identity.
